Words and the Shoah: memory as combat

Abstract

Language is not innocent when it comes to extermination, given that words condition the actions of men. In this sense, words completely transcend mere linguistics; they require their own ethics when they become means of combat, destruction or redemption. This is tightly relagted to exterminations like those suffered by the Armenians at the hands of the Turks and the Jews at the hands of the Nazis. These pages seek to relate both events and the modes of their memory without falling into out of place comparisons or banal trivializations.
